Good Morning!I would be interested in Alice 3.0. I usually spend time with 8th graders but would like to start with 6th or 7th graders.Thank you for considering this in your summer plans. I am located northwest of Philadelphia in case there are workshops that are held instead of a webinar.Thank you,Terry Morley Terry Morley

We are going to gather information over the next few weeks to see where the needs are, and will put something together that should work for everyone. There may be another survey to help with the planning and we will do or best to provide this at a very reasonable cost.  In the meanwhile, could you tell me a little about yourself? Just a few brief answers would help with the planning for this. There have been several responses already, and the replies to the following may give me enough to go on, if not, then there may be an additional survey.  Your answers can be brief, and rest assured they will be very helpful. I just want to get an initial picture of everyone’s situation.   Questions that would help us plan include –   Your technology/programming background, if any (none required)   What is your overall comfort level with technology, especially as it applies to programming?   Do you have any previous experience with Alice or any other programming teaching tools, such as Scratch or Blocky?   What grade levels/ages will you be instructing with Alice?  What version of Alice are you interested in (2.x, 3.x, not sure)?  What you would hope to gain from this workshop.    Thanks,Keith      Mr. Golebiekgolebie at ellwood.k12.pa.us  From: alice-teachers-bounces+kgolebie=ellwood.k12.pa.us at lists.andrew.cmu.edu [mailto:alice-teachers-bounces+kgolebie=ellwood.k12.pa.us at lists.andrew.cmu.edu] On Behalf Of Leslie Brommer

Subject: Re: alice-teacher Alice Training?  @Tamara, and anyone else who may be interested – I would also be happy to organize a virtual workshop for this summer, for you or anyone else who may be interested, and/or coach you through the Alice learning process. I have been using both Alice 2 and 3 in the classroom for a number of years, have taken many workshops, and taught quite a few as well. I do PD locally here in Western PA on technology, and especially with Alice, for my district and others. I will be presenting workshops again this summer for several other districts, and I presented 2 sessions on using Alice in the classroom yesterday at Pete & C (http://www.peteandc.org/ ) Pennsylvania’s largest, statewide, Education Technology conference, along with our Elementary computer teacher. We are coordinating our activities throughout the school year, during the school day and afterschool, to get technology into the hands of our  students, at all age and grade levels.  If you, or anyone else is interested, reply and we’ll get the ball rolling.  Keith  Mr. Golebiekgolebie at ellwood.k12.pa.us From: alice-teachers-bounces+kgolebie=ellwood.k12.pa.us at lists.andrew.cmu.edu [mailto:alice-teachers-bounces+kgolebie=ellwood.k12.pa.us at lists.andrew.cmu.edu] On Behalf Of Keith Golebie

Subject: Re: alice-teacher Alice Training? There will be at least one training at CMU this summer, check alice.org for dates (don’t know if the date has been finalized, yet) and there will be training courses, including a 2 week session, held at Duke University - http://www.cs.duke.edu/csed/alice/aliceInSchools/workshop15/ There may be others. For example, I’ll be doing some PD for other teachers in my area, on using Alice in the classroom, they will vary in length and time, and although they aren’t in your area, you may find some out there. There is also a course called Getting Started with JAVA using Alice 3 at Oracle Academy, and it’s free. https://academy.oracle.com/self-study/alice/index.html Keith Golebie Mr. Golebiekgolebie at ellwood.k12.pa.usComputer Technology TeacherRm 201 & 202Lincoln High SchoolEllwood City Area School DistrictEllwood City PA  16117724-752-1591 x3202 From:alice-teachers-bounces+kgolebie=ellwood.k12.pa.us at lists.andrew.cmu.edu [mailto:alice-teachers-bounces+kgolebie=ellwood.k12.pa.us at lists.andrew.cmu.edu] On Behalf Of Don Slater

I am reaching out to as many people as possible to find away to not attend a 2 week or a week long training that is only offered in the summer time.  Have you heard any success from any online courses that are out there?  I found 2 online courses and wanted to make sure that I am not being scammed.   http://www.vtc.com/products/Programming-With-Alice-Tutorials.htm http://www.expertrating.com/certifications/Instructorled/Database-Management-Programming/Alice-2.0-Programming-Introduction-to/Alice-2.0-Programming-Introduction-to.asp I would greatly appreciate any advice as I am looking to order your book to teach this course.
