I ran the update and got this error:

???? This never happened before. I'm going to try downloading the program in full from the web site.

We have a new release for Alice 2 (Alice 2.3.4) now available at http://www.alice.org. This is the intended release for Fall, 2013. One of the biggest fixes is that the Mac version of Alice 2 now correctly displays images and objects with transparent elements. For example, on the Mac version of Alice 2, the wings of the faeries were always displayed with a black box around them. This box is no longer visible.



If you are currently running Alice 2. 3, you do not need to do a complete download and install of this new version, but you can go to Help -> Update Software, and the option to "Update Alice 2.3" should be available. All you will need to do is click on "Update". On lab machines, you may have to do this with administrator privileges.



This release features the following modifications and fixes:



Feature modifications



                * Restored Take Picture feature.

                * Restored Screen Capture tab from Preferences menu.

                * When saving an object, and adding it to the Alice Gallery, a thumbnail of the saved object correctly displays in the Gallery



Bug Fixes



                * Saving objects now works correctly

                * Export Code for Printing menu item now prints any lists in a world

                * The print control tile now correctly prints user input text to console (not "none")

                * The Mac version correctly handles graphics with transparent elements in the images (for example, the wings of the faeries no longer have a black box around them)
