alice-teacher problem adding second scene with room background?

Hello all,

 

I have been using Alice since 2006 and have made the jump to 3.1 gladly .
unfortunately, the adjustment is more painful than I expected.  

 

I have students using the room "background" (used to be a "prop") and they
want to have multiple scenes with different rooms. 

 

I have as yet not been able to figure out how to accomplish this, even
though it appears it should be possible?!  IS IT?

Oh and also, several students have built worlds with large numbers of
objects in the world and their object list gets so long it goes off the
screen (we have 22" wide screen monitors) with no way to scroll thru the
list?   Is this being addressed??

 

Thanks again and I love 3.1 despite its issues!!
