To play music in Alice continually throughout the music video, you need to create an event with an infinite loop.

 1. Click "world" in the object tree. In the details area, select the "properties" tab. Click "sounds". Import the song.
 2. In the events area, create an event called "When the world starts, do <nothing>.
 3. Drag "loop" from the bottom of the editing window and place it in the event area, <nothing> field. A dropdown menu appears, select "infinity."
 4. Then, click "world" in the object tree. In the details area, select the "properties" tab.
 5. Click "sounds". Drag the song from this area to the event area, under the event you just created.

When my students create music videos, I don't have them play the song in Alice because it's hard to sync the lyrics up to the animations. I have them export to video to a .mov file, and then we use Windows Live Moviemaker software to create the video. MovieMaker is free. Windows Live MovieMaker accepts .mov files.

To Export Video

 1. From the menu, select File, Export to Video. A dialog appears.
 2. Enter the name of the file and the location you want it to be saved in. Alice defaults to the desktop, but my school deletes desktop files upon student logoff. We save in the My Documents folder.
The file defaults to My Video.mov. Rename the file.
 3. Click Record. When the video is over, press Stop Recording. Then click Export Video. The file will be converted into a .mov file.

There are tutorials on how to use MovieMaker on Youtube. Basically, I have my students import their Alice Movie, insert a title page and credit page. Then, they add the music. The music can be edited to fade in and out, split, etc.

I have my students fill out a peer review sheet to make sure they follow along when I play them during class. The ones that are stellar end up on our school announcements.

I hope this helps.

Greetings!

Sorry guys, I'm learning this stuff on the fly. My students are working on
a music video project for their culminating activity.

How do I get imported music to play from the beginning of the program,
continuously as the code continues to execute? I have a student that has
programmed the ground to "say" the sound, but the next line of code won't
execute until the imported song is finished. a do while doesn't seem to do
the trick. we would like the lines of code following the ground saying the
sound to execute without having to wait for the sound to transpire.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kenneth
