alice-teacher Program problem

Janice,

As an intro to using Alice, and an intro to the concept of storyboarding for
game and simulation design, I had my students find a current events story
online and draw a comic strip, on paper, that retells the story. Then they
used their comic strip (storyboard) to recreate it as an animation in Alice.
They had a lot of fun with it.

Hello everyone!

I'm just beginning to teach this to middle school students. They love to
just jump in and create "stuff".

Does anyone have, and is willing to share, a lesson you prepared that I can
begin with. Something step by step, but more on a middle schoolers level?

This forum is great, however, I'm going to have to get used to the "higher
level" functions, etc.

Thanks a bunch

Janice

If the shark is moving, this must be looped, otherwise, it's only good for
one instant where ever the shark is located at that time.

Hi All -

One of my students is having a problem with an if...else statement. I have
used the same setup myself, coupled with a loop, and had it work fine. As
is, the lifeboat does not ever recognize the shark, even if the shark is
literally in the boat. If you have a moment to look and get back to me, I
would really appreciate it. I have put in a screenshot of the bulk of the
program. My hunch is that one of his events is causing the problem, but
still just can't figure it out.

Thanks to all,

Emily Higgins
