There are 3 things you may want to look at depending on the age and abilities of your sons.

There are 2 texts, the one by Wanda Dann etal; and the one by Tony Gaddis. Each comes with a set of tutorials. The third is a series of lesons and tutorials prepared by students under the direction of Susan Rodger at Duke. These are easy to follow examples to complete a project.

The examples in the first book and the excercises at the end of each chapter build on the work covered. In the Gaddis book, a "story line" is provided as part of each chapter's exercise section, and it is up to the programmer to create the scenario.

Since you are doing all the schooling, you may want to weave some of their language material into creating some of the projects

I wouldn't want it to replace a text (personally, I like Learning to Program with Java, though I seem to be a minority) , but it is an incredible supplement.

With my kids, the best approach seemed to be having them do the tutorials that come with Alice, then spend some time just doing fun stuff and discovering the tools. Then they could see what they didn't know and be more motivated to do tutorials to learn new skills.
