alice-teacher recent Alice 2.2 won't run

We use 2.2.  If it doesn't load the first time, it usually will the 2nd or third time it is clicked.  It is only an issue when the kids are running off of a network.

Your download could also be corrupted.  The average I find is 1 corrupted download in 10.

Yesterday, Thursday, 18 November, I downloaded <http://www.alicedownloads.org/downloads/2010_09_10/Alice2.2.zip> , unzipped it, and clicked the Alice.exe icon. The splash screen showed, the Loading.... Message showed, the hard drive was active for about a minute, and then.... Nothing.

I checked Task Manager, and there was no sign of Alice in either Applications or Processes. I tried the same with Slow and Steady.... Same splash screen... Nothing.

I tried my usual Alice 2.0. Everything worked.

I restarted my machine (Windows Vista Business, Service Pack 2, 2 GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, L7500 @ 1.60 GHz  1.60 GHz32 bit OS, Lenovo X61 Tablet) twice. No joy. I did another download and unzip. No joy. I downloaded the http://www.alicedownloads.org/downloads/2010_09_10/Alice2.2b.zip. No joy. I'm feeling haunted.

Any ideas? I'd like to update to 2.2 and have my students update as well, but..... I've been teaching Alice for four years.
