alice-teacher Alice and MS XBox 360 controller for PC?

Hi all,

A recent Alice Newsletter referenced using game console controllers with Alice, but can someone please pass along how to get them to work with Alice?

I'd be most interested in the MS XBox 360 controller for PCs. I recall seeing one used with Alice in a presentation at the 2009 Alice Symposium at Duke University, NC.

Thanks in advance,

-Tom

Greetings,

I am new to the Alice Listserv. I just wanted to share some resources & examples that I and my students have worked on. I wrote the tutorials over the summer to support the activities we do in class. The tutorials are listed here.

http://www.theeastfamily.net/tutorials/alicetutorials.html

In my Technology Systems class each year, the students pick rides on www.flatrides.com and build a 3D model of the ride using 3DsMax and Alice. Below you find the links to this year and last year's models.

I have a student who is currently working on a realistic model of the Pascaline. I will send that out when he gets it finished.

Take care,

I am also using INSPIRATION software to create simple story boards
before they write the program.

Dear colleagues,

I am just starting with Alice as introductory course to OOP. The plan is
to tech it for 6-8 weeks as a tool to help students understand basic
object-oriented concepts before learning Java. I heard so many
superlatives about Alice and I am a bit confused where exactly to
start...My preferences are visualizations/movie like tutorials, followed
by project based lessons. I would love to hear about your experience. I
would appreciate if you have any suggestions for resources/textbooks you
have been used in your practice. Thanks in advance!
