WOW. This stuff is awesome. Thank you.... way beyond what I'm doing, so I will really be interested in reading your stuff.

Does this also work with programs like Goggle sketchup?

It is possible to export Pro/Desktop or Pro/Engineer files to 3DsMax using a workflow I came up with over the summer for a class at Purdue University. The summary of this work can be found at :

http://www.theeastfamily.net/GameDesignPresentation.pdf

If you are interested in a tutorial that I wrote that takes you through the process of converting files from these programs to Alice, you can click below. In particular, click on the tutorial entitled "Texture Mapping Models from Solid Modeling Software in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

Hope this helps,

Hi Marilyn,

This is a very good question. However, I suspect that the answer is a
regretful "No." on Pro/E.

The Pro/E tool is a 3D CAD tool used primarily for mechanical
engineering and design.
I'm sure its a great tool but I don't know how flexible it would be for
creating
3D models that are compatible with the Maya and 3DMax formats we use
for creating models for Alice.

We are currently working on 3D models. We are very aware of the need
to make this process more affordable and more accessible. I will ask
our 3D modeling
folks what their opinion is with regard to Pro/E.

Wanda
