Hi all,

Many of you know that CMU is going to require 2 factor authentication in the very near future for CMU web logins.
You probably received an email explaining how to register.
One of the authentication methods available to you is a phone app that will work on android and apple smartphones.
They also have small keychain fobs that can be used.

Normally you would have to go to the campus help center, but I worked with the 2fa authentication team to bring some fobs down here to Penn Avenue.
I've already distributed to the 2nd floor ASTM TMC people, and will distribute to the 1st floor ASTM later today. (TMC employees will receive an email with further instructions soon.)

The fobs are not required if you have another method of registering, but they can serve as a backup to your phone app should you lose or break your phone, or in place of the phone app entirely if you do not have a smart phone or do not wish to install the app.

You can get some information on CMU's 2fa effort at these links:

If you would like a fob, email me back and let me know a good time to come see you. If you have several people in the office that would like one, try to organize a group time to keep things simple. I will need to see your CMU ID (or "Identity Proof" as they put it) and get your Andrew username so that I can register the fob to your account. I'll be here today, out tomorrow, but back Monday.
