About grading-policy
English (USA)

Grading policy at all levels of education in the United States is outdated. Decades of research suggest extrinsic motivators like grades are actively harmful to students' learning. CMU has also broadly acknowledged the toll grades can have on students' health, particularly mental health.

For these reasons, we are starting discussion with students, faculty, and administration about ways to reduce the importance of grades at CMU. This mailing list will send out periodic updates on this discussion, as well as surveys for collecting broad feedback.
