I have a lot of stuff. I especially want to give an extra thank you to Leah of Newcastle, who went to the house and chased out the dust bunnies, and Zoe and Andreas for the use of the truck and for being, well, great; not that everyone else wasn't/isn't, but Zoe and Andreas really have gone above and beyond to the point of me feeling like I've imposed and worn out my welcome with them. Thanks to Langdon, Baron Durr,?who left without being noticed (sneaky man), Erik, Myfanwy, Alaster, and Brian (who's SCA name escapes me). Also to all who contacted me and wished me well, the support was overwhelming. Thank you again for all of the help, good thoughts, and prayers, I felt like I was in an episode of Little House on the Prairie (see the episode "A harvest of friends"). The Pennsic party is a wonderful tradition of the past few years that our whole barony has enjoyed tremendously. But remember, if we want it, someone's got to step up and run the thing! The bid to the Officers can be more informal, since it's not technically an event, but to use Baronial Funds, the Officers have to approve. If anyone here in the BMDL would like to bid these events with a BMDL backing/sponsorship, please submit your bid at the upcoming Officers Meeting on Wednesday (8pm, Porter Hall A18C, on CMU's campus). For these Kingdom events, you'd then submit the bid to the Kingdom after it was appoved by the local officers. > > Also, Spring Crown Tourney 2010 is due to be held in our region. I would greatly encourage a Debatable Lands bid for that, as we have not had a Kingdom event here in quite a while. Good Gentles, please consider autocratting Spring Crown next year. Our fair Barony shines with much talent, and it's time again to display it to the whole Kingdom! The ideal time to put in a bid for that would be late summer this year. Early fall would work, too. > > The Kingdom Event Planning Resources page, including a link to the BMDL autocrats' handbook by Vrouwe Odriana, is here: http://www.aethelmearc.org/eventplanning/ . > > I also look forward to seeing bids for local-themed events (nice arts-themed February event, anyone?). DO NOT EMAIL ME ABOUT THIS ONE - i don't have email at home and can't get into it as frequently as i'd like. we can probably pull this off if we can get only 2 people, even more would be better. quite frankly i don't care if we have heavy fighters attacking fencers for this one, so long as it looks showy - heck, come and wave a bow, i don't care ;) if we could have a few banners on poles, that would be spectacular...i don't know if she wants extras to cheer them on but if you are available to wear your nice garb and be scenery, let me know too and i'll ask her. thanks in advance, and thanks to all the folks who have responded so far about the demo itself... rufina -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... She has asked that if anyone is going to an RP event in the next few months to please contact her. She like a ride to take her well-earned position on stage as champion. I'm running archery at a couple of events coming up. On June sixth, I'll be at War College to set up a range similar to what is expected to be the archery war points at Pennsic, including an advancing man and a slot. On June twentieth, I'll be at Westland Mor's Spring to run a pirate-themed shoot. Come on out and try it. I will not be bringing the loaner equipment to either event. The practice schedule for June and July is simple. Every Sunday until Pennsic, weather permitting, we'll be at the Washington Boulevard site starting at 11:00. My shoulder is still banged up and I can use some help in set up and take down. Looking ahead to the fall... I'd like to schedule an IKAC shoot at practice. This is a more complicated version of the Royal Rounds with twelve rounds in total. Two timed and two untimed shouts at 20, 30, and 40 yards. It takes a while to shoot. I'm recommending this since a lot of Kingdoms use this score as a qualifier for certain archery competitions. The site is the community building in the Summerset at Frick Park area of Squirrel Hill. The community building has lots of space, tables and chairs, and a full kitchen. A $5 contribution towards drinks and the site rental is requested. If people are so inclined, we can order in pizza or chinese at lunchtime. Please bring your own sewing machine and gear (pins, scissors, etc). A cutting surface and iron/ironing board will be available, but feel free to bring another. The purpose of this sewing circle is to get ready for Pennsic War. With only 3 weeks from the sewing circle to Pennsic, it is a good time to get those new tunics made, fix up the old ones, and work on camp projects. Since the goal of the sewing circle is to let everyone work on their projects, no pattern-making or teaching will happen at this sewing circle. Gentles who need a pattern or help in determining how to make an outfit are encouraged to contact Mistress Ts'vee'a at 412-361-0718 before 9pm or at lefkowitzga at earthlink.net. I would be happy to schedule to meet with you at my house in Stanton Heights one evening to help with patterns and instruction. With space and costumers comes fabric. Feel free to bring fabric that would make someonen else wonderful clothes and we'll have a fabric swap. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ts'vee'a at the contact info above, or Mistress Amaryllis (schwoegl at verizon.net) or Mistress Aleea (aleeabagah at comcast.net). Directions >From downtown Pittsburgh and points west ? Take the 376 East exit at Squirrel Hill/Homestead. Follow sign to Squirrel Hill. Continue on Forward Avenue for 2 miles to Summerset Drive, turn right. >From Monroeville and points east ? Traveling west on PA Turnpike 76, take the Pittsburgh Exit 6 to 376 West.
