War College

Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands (N. Versailles, PA)
July 8, 2006

The sounds of the War Horns grow louder and more persistent. To assist
everyone in their preparations for War, the Barony-Marche of the Debatable
Lands is proud to host War College on July 8, 2006 at the
Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsmen¹s Club (505 Mosside Blvd., N. Versailles PA
15137, www.pmsconline.com). Activities for the day will include heavy
weapons, fencing, thrown weapons, archery, scouting, youth combat, youth
fencing, dog coursing, and children¹s activities. The autocrat for this
Academy style event for the SCA martial arts is Mistress Karana Yabokchi
(Karen Donnelly, 2837 Anderson Drive, Allison Park, PA 15101, 412-487-5278,
kddonnelly(at)comcast(dot)net, no phone calls after 10 p.m.).

The site opens at 10 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m. Everyone remaining after
9 p.m. will have volunteered for the clean-up crew. There is no smoking in
the buildings and the site is discretely damp. Please no visible modern
containers and no open flames at feast.  The site is handicapped accessible.
For those who may be traveling, there are several hotels within 5 miles of
the site. Please contact the autocrat for additional information. Merchants
should also contact the autocrat.

Schedule for the day:

10 am: Site opens
11 am: Dog coursing exhibition (weather permitting)
11 am: Fencing partner tournament
Before noon: Archery range opens as soon as set-up is complete (includes
advancing man shoot)
Before noon: Thrown weapons range opens as soon as set-up is complete
Before noon: Heavy weapons inspections and authorizations
Before noon: SCA Scouting (tentative)
Before noon: Youth combat (Making weapons, fighting, authorizations,
marshaling etc.)
Noon:  Lunch part 1
Noon:  Heavy weapons melee practice including combat archery
1-3 pm:  Children's Activities (tentative)
1:30 pm: Fencing melee practice
1:30 pm: Youth fencing (tentative)
4 pm: Lunch part 2
5 pm: Regency and Baronial Courts
6:30 pm: Feast
9 pm Site closes

Additional information: The site has limited shade, and it does not have
showers.

Fees for the event are as follows:
Adult and >14: On-Board $15.00 with pre-registration, $16.00 at the door;
Off-Board $8.00; Out-board $5.00.
Youth 6-14: On-Board $7.50 with pre-registration, $8.00 at the door;
Off-Board $4.00; Out-board $2.50.
Youth 5 and under: Free
Family cap with Feast: $48.00

The off-board fee includes two lunches, one at noon and one in the late
afternoon. The head cooks for the day are Master Alistair Scott MacCrummin
(Steve Morrisson, 412-734-3246) and Mistress Lenora of the Willows (Donna
Mallabone, alenorawillow(at)yahoo(dot)com). Please contact Master Alistair
with any dietary concerns. Reservations, with SCA and modern names and check
payable to SCA, Inc-BMDL, should be sent to Lady Hildarun Hugelman (Krista
Cogan, 322 N. Euclid Avenue Pittsburgh PA 15206, 412-363-3111,
hildarun(at)yahoo(dot)com.). The only good reservation is a paid
reservation.  The $3 non-member surcharge will be collected from all non-SCA
members.

Directions:
Take your best route to I-76, the PA Turnpike, and then to Exit 57 (old exit
6) I-376 W/ US-22 W / US-22 Business/ Monroeville/ Pittsburgh. After the
toll booth, take the US 22 Business exit (#16 to the left) and immediately
get into the left lanes of Business Route 22. At the first stop light, make
a left onto Route 48 South (Mosside Boulevard) and *travel 5 miles to the
site. The club is on the right side of Route 48 South between Route 130 and
Route 30. There is ample off-street parking at the site.

Alternate directions from Downtown Pittsburgh:
>From Downtown Pittsburgh, follow I-376 East toward Monroeville.  The second
Business Route 22 exit is just before the I-76 Turnpike exit.  Take the
second Business Route 22 exit and go straight through the Route 22
intersection at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 48 South (Mosside
Boulevard).  Follow the directions after the * above.
