...while we are on the topic, i'd just like to point out that using an image
that someone has created is subject to those same rules and considerations.

which means i really really REALLY get angry when people use pictures that
i've taken to create scrolls - without asking me. like say, oh, those
pictures that were on the trading cards? or any others. AND just for
clarification sake - i didn't take all the pics, so you have to ask about
specific pictures. the person who took the other pictures can get even
angrier than i do.

i once showed up at an event to find that someone had taken a photograph of
mine from my website, turned it into a beautiful scroll and hadn't even
bothered to credit me on the back with "from a photograph by" NOR was i
asked for my permission.

i once received a scroll that had one of my photos painted on it *sigh*

and i don't like it when someone walks up to me at an event and say "send me
that picture you just took! i need to publish it!" yeaaaaaaah...try
asking. you wouldn't demand a poem from a poet, you'd ask. give me the same
consideration for my creations.

you may not feel the same way about the pictures you take, but you probably
don't make any money at it either. i have.

now, having said all that...if you ask me if you can use a photo of mine to
make a scroll, i'll 99% of the time say yes. i think it's a GREAT idea. but
i like to be ASKED. (and i don't expect payment ;)

p.s. now that i think about it, i'm as guilty as anyone else - i used a pic
of a scroll for a paper in school. i guess i should start making amends....
