I think I agree with the 'wording' thingie. It would look better for all
involved if we made it look like a "Good for you!!" membership discount
instead of a "Penalize the Rookies" surcharge. We can 'call' it anything we
wish but a penalty surcharge is what it is. 'Membership discount' provides a
much greater incentive to obtain the membership.

For what it's worth, I think that it would be easy enough to spin the
NMS as a member discount instead.  (Proper phrasing in an event
announcement can put the mention of the discount before the prices.)
And it would be better PR in dealing with those who aren't members
yet.
