as a parent i have to say this is just an example of busy body people telling the rest of us how to raise our kids, people who are so scared of their own shadow they have to project their fears on the rest of us. i understand that some bad things have happened in the past. but they are not the norm people need to be vigilant yes BUT NOT PARANOID!! in 1980 when i was 9 i walked my self home from school made my own lunch and watched my kid brother till my mom got home at 7. and kids now are much more advanced with cell phones and the Internet. i strongly believe in keeping track of your kids i do (mines 3) but im also willing to say i strongly suspect that not unlike myself 98% of my fellow scadians would die before they allowed harm to come to a child..any child. i dont see the problem with letting teens attend classes or go shopping who are responsible and can be trusted. the state of PA says you can drive a car, hunt, AND BABY SIT at 15 1/2 but
you apparently cant go shopping or take a class.

I think MY major question here is parent/guardian vs. responsible adult. In other words, if I am not a childs legal guardian or parent I can not take them to a class even if I am a paid babysitter. My friend who wants to attend the class themselves cannot take my child even if that child is 17. I personally am not questioning the addition of needed supervision, kinda fits with the 2 deep rule but the limitation to it being only a parent or guardian.
Anna,
parent of a 14 year old.

Bingo! You got it in one.
Pennsic staff (all departments) are going to be extra double careful this year
about interactions with minors where staff members (even A&S teachers) could be
viewed as being in a supervisory mode WRT the children.
These rules are going to be rigidly adhered to and enforced.
Eric
