Banish the Tube Socks:  13th - 14th Cut Hosen for Men & Women, Lady Alianor de Ravenglas   Lecture/demo class on constructing bias-cut hosen appropriate to 13th and 14th  c. Western Europe.  $.50 handout
 
Basics of Blazon and Design, Master Otfrid Ammerthaler     Blazon is the language of heraldry. We will go over the basic  "grammar" of blazon, and discuss how understanding the language can help to design arms that are both pleasing and period. Newcomers and beginning heralds are welcome.  Age 12+ no experience necessary
 
Choosing and Documenting Your SCA Name, Master Otfrid Ammerthaler    How to find a name that works for you, how to document what you've found, and how to get it all registered. We will also look at "The Rules" and the pros and cons of different types of documentation. Newcomers and beginning heralds are welcome.  Age 12+ no experience necessary
 
Documentation, Tips & Tricks, Mistress Alicia Langland   Too timid to enter A&S competitions because you think your documentation isn't all it should be?  This class will cover what to include in your documentation along with tips on how to present it for maximum effect.  Samples of documentation for actual projects will give you ideas for writing your own.  We will also address the question:  "I've made my entry; now, how do I get started on my documentation?"
 
Elizabethan Embroidery, Lady Renata l'rouge   This class will discuss various forms of embroidery found on clothing in the Elizabethan era.  It will cover the most common stitches for both raised and flat embroidery with instruction on period styles, designs and techniques.

I Just Got A Scribal Assignment, Now What?, Baroness Ekaterina Volkova   A look at how to find inspiration for illumination and wording for scroll assignments
 
Introduction to Buratto, THL Guenevere Katherine of Trails End   Buratto, an embroidery technique similar to Lacis, or Lace Net Darning was in use during the Middle Ages. Though not as popular as the technique of Lacis / Filet, the patterns and threads used are the same, with the design "darned" into a pre-made net foundation.  Students will have the opportunity to practice the technique by completing a small  motif.  Limit:  6, $5 materials fee
 
Leaves of Dough, Duchess Sir Rowan de la Garnison   Pie crust demystified. Basic rules and a few period recipes.
 
Mini Socks Toe-Up Class, , Dame George Anne  We will cover the basics of knitting a modern toe-up sock hands on.  During the class, we will discuss history of knitting and other techniques and where to go for more information.  3 hour class, materials available for 4, if bring own materials, limit 8
 
Metallurgy for Marshals, Master John Thorpe   This class will be an informal overview of metallurgical issues that present themselves on the list field when inspecting metal components of weapons and armor. This class will be mostly a semi-technical discussion of practical inspection concerns and care issues related to the metal items used in our martial activities.  Audience:  Any member of the marshallate
 
Or Nue Embroidery, Mistress Yvianne de Castel d'Avignon  Learn the history and technique of this beautiful embroidery form; where metallic thread is laid down and then couched over with silk threads to provide color, texture or shading.  Limit:  5, $5 fee, $4 for materials, $1 for handout
 
Shiny Hats & Dangling Things, Baroness Ekaterina Volkova  A beginner's guide to what the different crowns, coronets, belts and award medallions people in AEthelmearc wear means.
 
The Skalds, Herisr Torvaldr Torgarson   This class will focus on the skalds and their place in Norse society.  There will be some discussion of specific skalds, samples of their poetry, and a general breakdown of the structure of Norse society so you can see how and where the skalds stand.
 
Trust Me It is Just a Small Needle: Beginning Cross-stitch Needlework,  Lady Bronwyn nic Gregor   Discussion (with examples of when and how) cross-stitch was use in period. Working on standard methods and a discussion and modeling how to modify for medallions given materials used. (Focus may depend on student driven questions and knowledge.).  Audience level: Beginner (Must have the ability to thread a needle (with or without a needle threader) independently.
