[SCA-AE] 30 years today

This summer's Myrkfaelinn Summer war practice will be 27 years for me. 
As a 15 year old bicycling across Cornell Campus I say people in armor, 
and as I had just read an article ( I think in Smithsonian Magazine) 
about the SCA I guessed that I had just found it. That was back whne you 
could fight heavy with a waiver from your parents when you were 15. My 
parents drove me to the Myrkfaelinn event (I believe it was a Queen's 
champions event at Camp Barton) and signed the waiver.

I remember being introduced to fighting by Steen Halverdson (I probably 
butchered his name, sorry,) and really disliking the 55 gallon drum lid 
round shield that was heavy and seemed to cover nothing while wearing 
the Myrkfaelinn rotational coat of plates (the leather was bright red 
back then) and realizing that , although I absolutely sucked at rattan 
fighting, I was ecstatic to finally be able to actually fight with swords!

I have met many great friends and had many great experiences that my 
mundane friends and co-workers just don't get, and met my wonderful wife 
through the SCA.
