[SCA-AE] Event Conflict

I think the issue is when a group wants to plan an event and the Crown specifically says to make sure it doesn't conflict with <insert out of Kingdom event here> because They plan on going to <out of Kingdom event>.

I know that specific cases in the past have been Ice Dragon and Gulf Wars, which fall in the same time frame.

Subject: Re: [SCA-AE] Event Conflict

I can see where you are coming from with this post. The problem is if people are planning to attend out of Kingdom events there isn't any way to stop them other than making an event here that would make them want to stay.

As I have read these posts the only thing I can come up with is there is no real solution.  We can't start telling groups that they can't have events because someone else is having one.  That is not what the SCA is about.  Running an event can be like a crap shoot at times.  I think rather than making more rules we should let the cards land where they will.  If I were running an event at one of the extreme poles of our Kingdom I would never expect people from the other side to be there.  It would be great to see them there but expecting them to travel that far if they can enjoy an event closer to home is not realistic or fair.  The key to me is make an event that is a draw and people will come.

Thats all I have on this one.
