As far as I know, everyone in the shire is fine. One lady works in the building next door and had a difficult time focusing on work what with the sharpshooters positioned on the roof of their building, but other than that, we're all okay to the best of my knowledge. If I learn otherwise, I will let folks know. This is a terrible thing to happen in one's "backyard" and our sympathies lie with those affected at this time. -george Sterlynge Vayle From purplkat at optonline.net Sat Apr 4 11:21:23 2009 From: purplkat at optonline.net (purplkat at optonline.net) Date: Sat, 04 Apr 2009 15:21:23 +0000 (GMT) Subject: [SCA-AE] Binghamton shootings In-Reply-To: <49D7604C.7000005@stny.rr.com> References: <49D7604C.7000005@stny.rr.com> Message-ID: George, My I have permission to re-post this on the EK List? These things are a reminder that we cannot kill the Ice Dragon, nearly drive it away. This week's weather is a warning that while we may have won the battle, the war with the icy beast will continue. I would like to give my heart-felt, if belated, thanks to THL Augusto for taking up the reigns of this event and making it spectacular. To Lord Phil for all that he did all day. To Master Charles for running the thrown weapons range. To Victor of Shrewsbury and Elizabeth for driving in from so far away to cook for us. To Rhiannon and the entire Pent staff. To Isolda for planning the hall. To all of the combat scribes. To Zosia, Beatrice and Murigel for taking care of me all day. To all of the marshals, MOLs and judges. To all who gave up their Friday evening and Sunday afternoon setting up and breaking down. This event, over the last thirty some years, has grown beyond the requirements of a handful of people. It cannot function without the help of not only the Rhydderich Hael, but with a third of AEthelmearc as well. I am proud to be the Baron of such a barony that aspires to put on such a large event, and doubly proud to be part of a Kingdom with so many people willing to give up their day to make the event the best it can be. Thank you one and all and I hope to see more of you, next year. ska: Baron Caleb Reynolds mka: Caleb Ronsen aka: Bubba th' Barbarian Baron of the Rhydderich Hael Inventor of the four-wheel-drive pogo-stick. I just wanted to remind everyone that there is a cut off date for some pre-registrations. April 10, 2009 is the cut off date to pre-registar for the Saturday (day) rate of $15.00 adults and $7.50 children (5-17). If you are not pre-registered the price goes up to $20.00 and $10.00 respectively. Your letter must be post marked April 10 to qualify, or you can register at the ACCEPS site. http://acceps.ansteorra.org Also we still have some feast space left and the pre-registration for that also closes on April 10. The cost for feast is $11.00 adults and $6.00 children (5-12) Until April 10 you can use your debit or credit card to register at the ACCEPS site. After that date you can still register by mail but we can only accept personal checks or money orders. It would be a good idea not to try to mail anything after April 18. At the gate we can not accept credit or debit cards, but of course will take cash, personal checks and money orders. The reservations clerk is Lady Reah Brecc and her email address is reah_emerald at yahoo.com There are only 3 dorm beds left (women's only cabin) and I spoke with the Cedar Lakes reservations clerk today and he told me there are a few hotel rooms on site available. You must call them directly to make a room reservation. The event web site is www.blackstoneraid.org all addresses and contact information is available there.
