I think there are two different meanings of "danglies" here.
Sir Andreas Hak making negative remarks about more

In this context "danglies" refers to the awards themselves

"danglies" - every award had to have a badge that got put on a string
around someone's neck." -- Orianna
In this context, "danglies" clearly refers to the associated order
regalia -- the badges on strings.
I think the principality awards were just about right -- not to many, not
too few -- so I would have to agree with your sentiment. On the other hand,
I also agree with Orianna's sentiment; if would be nice for the orders to
have more period style regalia, and not just the round dohicky on a string
with something painted on it. (Not that I have the time and energy to
supply said more period style regalia, but it's fun to grump on occasion)
