Court held November 1, AS 43 (2008) at the Amethyst Tourney in Their Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands. Giulietta da Venezia, Reporting Herald with the assistance of Lady Aibell Suil-Uaine, called Suilean. Their Majesties invited Their Graces, Malcolm Duncan MacEoghainn and Tessa the Huntress to announce the winners of the Amethyst Tourney. His Grace proclaimed His Excellency, Robin Wallace the victor of the tourney, and presented his scroll and prize - a gift certificate to the armorer of Robin's choice. Master Robin addressed the populace, and described the manner in which he came to compete that day - by presentation of an invitation originally given to His Grace, Sir Morguhn Sheridan, and at the behest of Sir Morguhn's ladies. Master Robin then offered a libation in memory of Sir Morguhn, to the acclaim of the assembled populace. Scroll by Lady Renata Rouge and His Grace, Malcolm Duncan MacEoghainn. Their Graces, Malcolm and Tessa, explained the history of the tournament, having its roots in the Emerald Joust, where the emerald was the prize for the combatant favored by the populace. After noting that every combatant had received tokens of the populace's esteem, Their Graces proclaimed Sir Graedwyn mab Teyrnon the winner, and presented him the Amethyst Ring. Their Graces thanked the event staff, Their Majesties, Their Excellencies of the Debatable Lands, and all of the combatants and populace in attendance for their contributions to a most excellent event. Margretha la Fauvel was made a companion of the Sycamore in absentia for the joy she brings to the populace through her skill in vocal and instrumental music and dancing. That's right, the day after the Storming the Castle event. Come for Storming the Castle, stay for the practice in a large indoor arena, we have outdoor space available depending on the weather. We are planning on focusing on crest combat but game equpment will be available. There are no rental horses at this location. If you plan to ride, please bring a horse or contact Tiercelin, as she may have some horses available to loan. This is not the time or place to learn to ride, but we would be happy to explain about eq activites to non riders who are interested and of course we can always use groundsman help. Helping owners with their horses is a good way to build relationships that allow for rides in the future. The practice will be held at Tiercelin's barn. The address is 7895 East Quaker Road (20A), Orchard Park, NY 14127 Horse stalls are available ( 9 x 14) at $5 a night to cover your hay and shavings. Contact Tiercelin- carnabyservicesyahoo.com to arrange for boarding your horse for the weekend or parking directions. Each horse must have a current coggins to be allowed on the property. Please bring a copy of your coggins for our records. Thanks. We will provide bagels, etc on Sunday morning - and lots of coffee! In the heated viewing room! We will also have a vendor on site with tack and winter riding equipment ( mmmm Merino lined half chaps). So I can have a head count, please drop me a note if you are planning on attending and if you are bringing a horse. While discussing ideas for next year's event, I was struck by a thought. Many gentles expressed positive feedback from the day, and I thought it would be a nice addition to the historical annals of our Kingdom, to gather stories and snippets of memories from the tournament. That said, I would like to challenge everyone in attendance to send me their favorite memories or stories from the day, so that I may compile them into an unofficial anthology. Taking a line of thought from Her Grace, Tessa, we are the next generation of legends-in-the-making. I think it would be wonderful to have such stories to serve as continued inspiration for the generations who will come after us. I do not necessarily want to take up all the bandwidth on this list, so feel free to email me off-list at ladyren-at-gmail-dot-com, with stories of inspiration on and off the field, even if its just a positive moment that you experienced during the day. I would truly welcome any and all memories from the event!
