Hi Gang;

I have made the following decision:

Because of the dramatic change in the equestrian rules I am going to
require that all riders re-authorize. Several Kingdoms are already doing
this because the rules and the way events are run have so dramatically
changed.
The only persons who do not have to reauthorize are Equestrian Marshals
since they are up-to-date on the changes and will be the ones conducting
the re-authorization process.

Those of you who are all ready authorized will not have to do a riding
part of the authorization unless you want to do so. However, you will
be required to fill out a new authorization form and answer a few
questions about:

What are your responsibilities as riders and horse owners?

What are the Marshals' duties in regards to event/arena safety and how
will these affect you?

What is the correct response if the Marshal informs you that you or your
horse is having a problem in the arena? What happens after a subsequent
warning?

What constitutes a designated equestrian area? Who may enter this area?

The answers to all these questions are in the new rules book found on
the AE Eq website. You will not be asked questions about specific games
or equipment requirements for those games unless you are doing a crest,
jousting, mounted combat, mounted archery, or other special
authorization. Except for crests, only specially assigned marshals or
the DKEO or myself may sign off on specials authorizations.

The riders who qualify for this type of authorization are those riders
currently listed on the Aethelmearc Equestrian web-site. All others must
do a full riding authorization in front of a qualified Aethelmearc Eq
Marshal and be able to answer the above questions.

Full riding authorizations must be done at official events ( i.e. horse
events where the insurance has been activated - be they demos, events,
parades, practices, etc.)

Authorizations for previously authorized riders may be conducted at any
time. If you do not have access to an equestrian marshal in your area
please e-mail me so I can arrange for your re-authorization.

Those of you who have previously authorized have until August 1 to
up-date your authorizations. After July 1 you will be dropped from the
data-base and will have to authorize as a new rider.

Thanks,

Alexander - KEO
