[SCA-AE] FW: [Mid] Sad news from Lutr and Tessa

I agree with the fact that procedures are put in place for a reason. That reason being the ability to maintain a certain level of organization. I am grateful for structure in its many forms but in creating structure we as human beings must allow for circumstances to sometimes fall outside of our control. When this happens is it not a time for the benefit of the doubt to be observed? Their Majesties did what was asked of them and others dropped the ball. Our Society is supposed to represent Chivalry in all its incarnations. With that in mind would it not have been better to rule using common sense and compassion rather than walking through the situation with blinders on?
I don't fault anyone involved. The BOD for doing its job, TRM for doing what was required of them or the USPS for just being terrible as usual. Just keep in mind when you take the human factor out of our Society on any level you cheapen what we stand for. We as people make mistakes and it is from those mistakes that we learn. Hell I spend about 22 hours a day learning :).
It appears that a solution for this situation has been found and when those members of the Middle stand behind what has been said it shows their dedication to the Codes of Chivalry and that is all that matters.

Excuse me - but why are you so upset about the action taken by the BoD?
This is not revolting, chutzpah, or a dictatorial whim - it is
procedure. And as anyone who runs any organization knows, you have to
have some concrete procedure in order for it to function. I would not
want to belong to any group that thinks bending the rules is OK...if
three days is acceptable, why not three weeks? If medical expenses are
an excuse, what about theft? Where do you draw the line once it has
been smudged?
I've read how the Midrealm Crown will be awarded, and am thoroughly
warmed by the actions to be taken by those who enter the special
tournament. This is chivalry as I expect it from this organization. No
matter how annoying the first decision might be, the latter is heartily
welcomed.
Don't fault those you elected to do the job of running the SCA when they
actually do it. I'm glad this happened, maybe just to wake up me and
others who might get careless about renewals.
