Hello,
Last year, Earl Sir Baerengaer hinn Raudi passed away. In the time
since, I have worked, slowly, on a poem for him. Yesterday, I
presented it his lady, Leah Janette. I did not have the opportunity
to perform it. However, I am presenting it here.

The Old Bear’s Roar
Fridrikr Tomasson
To Dragon’s Realm Laid deep in lore
A Viking came new meant for War
His blade shone bright in Midyear’s Sun
Soon folk did know the young bear’s roar
His slashing blade dance glory
Won & lady’s fame did soar
Soon Midrealm’s crown adorned his brow
All bowed before the King-bear’s roar
Wearied of Mid, thus to the shore
The dragon prow, the flashing oar
Crown followed crown, fame heaped on fame
New Dragons learned the fierce bear’s roar
Years passed him by, no call to war
He rested, read, he fought no more
But kept the peace & taught the young
Thus muted was the good bear’s roar
Came twenty fools unversed in lore
Young bravos leering mocked & scorned
Ne’er legions led he, they laughed & lied
Who didn’t not fear the grey-bear’s roar
The old bear rose to meet their score
Old mail & helm, old blade he bore
Fought he the twenty & all did die
No longer scorning the Old-Bear’s roar
Then lay he down, his old wounds sore
The maidens came, his shield they bore
While ravens fed, to Vahal he flew
To sing for the gods his fierce bear’s roar
Now to Odin, now to Great Thor
A warrior fierce with new blade lore
Valkyries sing a new war song
Valhalla rings with the Old-Bear’s Roar
Hear me Odin, Heed me O Thor
Know well, all ancient gods of war
Hear me Spear Maids & Ravens Sly
Heed Me & Know The Old Bear’s Roar!
