Good Afternoon!
For those Chancellors of Youth/Chancellor Minors/Ministers of Minors (MOM) etc. and interested folks who aren't on the AE Chancellor Minors yahoogroup, under the new rules issued by the Board of Directors, Feb 14th is the last day you may hold your office on your current warrant. This is 3 months earlier than usual. The time to re-warrant or initiate a new warrant is NOW.
Groups who do not have persons posessing BOTH a child clearances pass card AND an active warrant card (this is new) present at events and local activities (and said person/s agreeing to actively supervise the kid's activities) will not be allowed to hold sanctioned SCA children's activities from Feb 15th onwards. This is a good motivation for Groups to encourage folks to become a children's officer. This is espescially important if a group of concerned parents usually "clubs together" to hold a few activities at your local events. At least one of you (the more you have, the more activities!) in the group of parents should step forward. Service Opportunities here! Get 'em while they're hot!
For current officers: If you wish to be re-warranted, you will need to do the following:
1. E-mail me with your name (SCA and modern), address, phone, email and local group, to get on the application mailing list. Please do this privately, not on the AE list!
2. When you receive your pass-card in the mail, please contact me again for your warrant card. Any group holding SCA-arranged activities must have someone with BOTH cards present, plus any another unrelated adult (helpful parent, etc.) present in order to hold SCA-sanctioned children's activities.
3. Report quarterly from this point forward unless there are issues. Relax! It's only a 1/2 page report, and I will remind you when it is due. All information is on the yahoo group--once you are warranted I will be happy to give you all the pertinent info.
For other interested folks:
It is anticipated that the first batch of pass cards will be sent to their recipients on or about March 15th. We don't yet know if non-officers will be allowed to have pass cards in the future. Presently, only officers will be allowed to arrange kid's activities, and they must have BOTH cards to do so (a pass card and a Warrant card). Therefore, requesting an application via the AE Chancellor Minor is a promise to apply for office afterwards. This is a very low-paperwork office.
You can still help if you don't have apass card, though. Those folks who DO have a card need another adult present to help out and help supervise. They also need ideas, supplies, and support. Like I said, Service Opportunities abound!
Please email me privately with questions or to be added to the application list for Chancellor Minors. You can be an At-large officer easily by March!
Cheers
Aoife
