[SCA-AE] last plea

Drama? Here? Never. *tongue firmly in cheek* Yes, I am going for
dramatic effect. But more than that, I'm attempting (badly) to make a point.
Yes, I do know lots of people are committed to other events both in
and out of kingdom. A simple missive by someone... anyone saying ...
well, anything at all at that point would have been welcome. Even if
they weren't planning on coming.
But Also consider this:
Last year at this same event, I was on this same battlefield alone
bearing water. I had posted no less than three times to the kingdom
list. Once in February, once in March and once again in April. To
that end I was the only one for a good hour or more until several
folks on retainer who were not on duty at that time, one who was, and
a several others I'll whose names I'll never know came to help. I
was even berated by a few fighters for not having people on the
field. At that point I was almost in tears. Those few people who
had said they would help either didn't or didn't come to the event
and didn't bother to tell me they weren't coming at the time.
So my plea, having been offensive to some, for which I Sincerely and
with great heart, apologize, has certainly been in earnest. Yes, it
was dramatic. And, yes, there are going to be people who will look
down upon me as a result. But to get the fighters what they need on
that field without killing myself to do it, I will take that
chance. There is very little I am not willing to do for my kingdom
or my barony. But I will not be subject to the words I was subject to
the first hour on the field last year as the only person with water.
Sincerely,
Erzebet
