Great Western War X

 

Date & Time - 

12:00 noon Tuesday Oct. 2 for those pre registered 

Or 12:00 noon Wednesday, Oct. 3 for those who are not. 

Site Closes - 12:00 noon on Monday Oct. 8 

 

Caid has risen to the challenge and moved GWW to a beautiful new site.
We are still unpacking the boxes and settling in but we're ready for
action.  Buena Vista Park near Bakersfield CA is the location for our
10th Anniversary event.  Come and take a look and let us know what you
think of our new home.

To celebrate Great Western Wars Tenth Anniversary we have cast pewter
pilgrim badge site tokens.  We've done our best to make one for each
guest but come early if you can.  Supplies are limited. 

 

Note: In an effort to be fair to those who can not arrive early - Those
who are pre-registered and arriving on Tuesday may reserve land for
others who have also Pre-registered. On Wednesday all remaining land is
first come first served.

 

There are many ways to enjoy your time at GWW. We hope that you will
come out and participate in your favorite pastimes.  Please check the
web site for the most up to date schedules of activities.

 

Archery, A&S classes and displays, Heavy Weapon combat scenarios, Rapier
scenarios, Equestrian competitions, Merchant Village & Food Court, Hound
Coursing, Volunteering, Camping with friends, Stroll by the Lake, Heavy
Weapon Tournaments, Campfire Bards, Royal Court, 

 

RAPIER:

West Kingdom Tourney:  Come and enjoy an "English Breakfast Tourney".
Sunday: 9am

Tea and coffee provided.

Blood of Heroes:  The League is accepting challenges.  Can your team of
juggers last more than a few stones against the League?

Uber Elf:  An "Ironman" of tourneys, each fight is a swiss-five.  Can
you last as long as the Uber Elf?

Warm up and pick up fights:  Please bring your own MIT or Marshal.

 

Volunteers:

You've heard the old saying that "many hands make light work". Please
consider donating a few hours of your time to volunteer at the war. In
addition to helping to make it a memorable event you will earn a
monetary donation to your favorite SCA territory. Please visit

and sign up for really choice shifts and time slots. This year, with a
new site, volunteers are needed more than ever..

 

Equestrian:

One of the new things we are doing at Great Western War this year is
having an overall GWW Equestrian Champion 

 

We will also be running the "Celtic Challenge", an obstacle course to be
done bareback (bareback pad allowed.)

Rental horses will not be available.  Anyone bringing horses should have
already submitted their registration form.

 

Water Bearing:

Great Western War is coming upon us in the very near future, and we need
your help! If you have the urge to help our many great fighters, we are
accepting donations for waterbearing! Oranges, powdered not-red Ade of
Gator, and pickles are what we need most! (We would certainly not turn
our nose up at time volunteered at War, either!) Anything you can spare
would be a boon to us all - please don't hesitate to be generous. 

 

If we find we are running short of oranges and Ade of Gator, we would
gladly accept wheelbarrows, as we may be needing them to get the
fighters off the field! 

 

Great Western War Champion Tournament

Friday 4pm at the Tournament Field

 

Despite venue and time changes, this tournament still lives! Come show
your prowess at the Great Western War Champion Tournament, where the
winner will be proclaimed the individual armored combat champion of GWW
X. This list is open to all armored combat fighters, and all are
encouraged to participate.

 

Webcasting!

This year the War will be webcasting the battlefield during combat.
Check the event website during the war for more information!
