[SCA-AE] who's interested in combat archery??

Ok, I'm thinking about teaching some classes on combat archery subjects at
upcoming events. I wanted some feedback on who might be interested and if
there are specific things that you would like to learn.

There are 4 basic classes that I normally teach:

1. Combat archery for beginners

2. Advanced combat archery (which includes tactics, working with units
and/or archer guards, etc)

3. How to inspect combat archery gear(arrows, bolts, bows & crossbows) This
is good for marshals and archers, since it's good to be able to pre-inspect
your own equipment.

4. Hand-on Combat Archery for Beginners (this one is taught on the field and
includes shooting combat missiles)

I've also taught classes on making quivers, making arrows & bolts
(fiberglass or golf tube), making CA armor, etc.. if there is interest in
any of these classes. I've signed up to teach 1 & 2 at the upcoming academy
in misty highlands, if there's room :) . If there's interest, I can sign up
to teach other classes as well. I've taught # 1 and # 4 more than 70 times
in the 23 (24 in May, grin) years that I've been doing and teaching combat
archery, I'm more than happy to teach either one whenever I'm at an event or
fighter practice. :)

I'm also considering teaching classes at blackstone raids & war practice.
Depending on the schedule of the event, I may see if I can teach the
beginners class (hands on) at defenders of sherwood and AE 10 year. If you
know of upcoming events that you are attending and it may work well for a
combat archery class or two, please let me know. If you are attending any of
these upcoming events and are interested in taking a class, please let me
know, so I can see how much interest there is at each event. :) Blackstone
and War practise, if there is enough interest, I can teach a class or two on
Friday and/or on Saturday before and/or after the fighting, on the field.

Let me know if anyone is interested in attending a combat archery related
class and if there's anything specific that you have an interest in. Please
feel free to spread the word and see if others in your group are interested.
If there are enough people interested and I can fit it
in my schedule and budget, I would be willing to come to different events
and/or fighter practices and spend the day or part of it working with
people. We can make part of it a workshop to work on making equipment
and/or armor (the armor works for all interested fighters, so this doesn't
have to be just for combat archers). Just contact me directly and I'll see
what we can work out. :) If there's room and the weather isn't bad (i.e.
cold) we can even have some melee practise for those who are authorized or
single practice for those who aren't (yet) authorized.

I know a lot of people have expressed interest in doing combat archery,
here's your chance to learn about it and start doing it (or at least trying
it). Also, there have been offers to host a combat archery
workshop/practice (depends on the site) in the Hartstone area, Misty
Highlands and BMDL. This would be basically all day, with different
teachers/helpers.. by the end of the day, you could have all of the basics,
made a quiver, combat arrows/bolts, half gauntlets, kidney protection, etc..
The specifics will need to be worked out, depending on what we have for work
space, etc.. But you could have all of your basics (except a helm), by the
end of the day. :)

I would like a head count on who's interested in a day long
workshop/practice and what location would work better for you. If other
groups are also willing to host one, please let me know. This way I know if
I need to recruit more helpers/teachers. :) Also, I don't like to exclude
people.. so any fighter is welcome to attend one of these and work on armor
or just more melee practice (for the upcoming war season). As those who
fought with me last year know well, when you fight with an archer, you tend
to have a target rich environment :)

Now is the best time to start working on becoming a combat archer. If
anyone is interested in a list of what supplies they need or would like to
buy completed arrows/bolts, please contact me via email..

I also have a class that I teach on the history of how archery was used
during different battles, time periods, areas.. if people are interested in
that. I tend to prefer to teach that in the fall when the combat archery
season is dying down. :)

Please feel free to contact me privately, if you are interested, have
suggestions, etc.

Thanks,
