Not a problem! I just wanted to be sure we gave credit where due : )

It may depend upon on "visible" the issues were, and it is possible that
Ealdormere did have a tougher time of it. Of course, the East had
already lost one colony (Drachenwald) although given the distance I
suspect it was an easier separation than those on the mainland.

One thing that can be said - AEthelmearc and Ealdormere paved the way
for more Principalities and Kingdoms to form. I am sure that
Northshield's process was a lot easier and less stressful than
Ealdormere's.

I just recently had a conversation with someone about more
principalities forming in the East. Regardless of the emotional ties,
when the Crown and Kingdom officers can no longer properly serve the
entire population of a Kingdom due to population size and/or distance,
it is time for a change. And that change should have more to do with
allowing the members to more thoroughly enjoy their SCA experience, and
be rewarded for it, than any desire to "hold on to" the land or history.

You are correct on all counts. My apologies for misspeaking.

And I was not meaning to say it was an easy process - only that it was
easier than what that Ealdormere endured.

AEthelmearc. However, I do not think lack of conflict equates to lack
of history."

I believe that Countess Aiden was East Kingdom Seneschal when we were
becoming a Principality; Baroness Rhiannon the Curious was East Kingdom
Seneschal when we were working on the Kingdom process and she gave us a
great deal of support as well, even though it meant she was going to
have to step down when we did since she was, and still is, a resident of
AEthelmearc.

While some of the officers and certain Crowns gave us support, there
were many in the East who were adamantly against our elevation -
including Kingdom officers and Royalty. It was definitely NOT an easy
separation.
