You are correct on all counts. My apologies for misspeaking.
And I was not meaning to say it was an easy process - only that it was easier than what that Ealdormere endured.

I believe that Countess Aiden was East Kingdom Seneschal when we were
becoming a Principality; Baroness Rhiannon the Curious was East Kingdom
Seneschal when we were working on the Kingdom process and she gave us a
great deal of support as well, even though it meant she was going to
have to step down when we did since she was, and still is, a resident of
AEthelmearc.
While some of the officers and certain Crowns gave us support, there
were many in the East who were adamantly against our elevation -
including Kingdom officers and Royalty. It was definitely NOT an easy
separation.
