Greetings from Myfanwy!
It's January. Just assume the weather is going to stink. At least it
doesn't sound like the ice storm that they had for the 12th Night in
Coppertree a few years ago, when the fire alarms went off in the school
just as they were starting to serve the first course, and almost no one
had warm clothes with them (the changing rooms were at the far end of
the building from where the feast was being held, and it was something
like 8° by then).
And this was after the phone at our house practically rang off the hook
from about 11 pm on New Year's Eve, with various folks down our way
(and points even further west) going "Are you guys still going? We're
thinking about bailing -- what route are you taking?")
