Dear gentles,

Here's a bit of ... well, ALMOST harmless fun. :)

(If you wish your input to count towards the final results, please send
it to "children_of_lir at yahoo.com".)

------------------------

If you're a fan of Dave Barry you may remember, years ago, that one
innocuous — well, pretty vicious actually! albeit honest and accurate —
slam he made on Neil Diamond generated a huge volume of impassioned
mail. He decided to ride the flood-crest and asked his readers to
decide, by popular vote, what they believed to be the Worst Song Ever,
and weeks of hilarity ensued.

(Copies of the column/s are available online here:
http://www.lovedungeon.net/humor/dave/the_bad_song_contest_i.html
Additional material that wouldn't fit into the column was compiled into
Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs, a tome absolutely no bathroom should be
without.)

Anyway. The point? Oh yeah.

Someone recently asked a group of us:

"What are, in your humble opinion, the most overplayed/ oversung songs
that you hear CONSTANTLY around the SCA campfires and just have to roll
your eyes at when they start?"

Well, now. :) That would be telling, wouldn't it?

Response to the question was surprisingly limp. So I offered to take
it to the streets, and am doing so now: "If there's one song that
you'd rather eat arsenic than hear sung/played at a bardic circle
again, EVER, what is it?"

Two weeks from now I'll announce the Bottom Five...and any other
Notable Mentions.

Have at it.
