That's because we need more carrots.
The "Order for Martial Authenticity" was created in April 2004.
It was given to four people; two archers, a fencer and a fighter.
Over the following year it was given out twice more;
once to a fighter and the court report doesn't say what the other was
(It was to James Irvin; anyone know if he's a fighter or fencer or archer?)
It was given two more times at the following Pennsic; one fighter, one fencer.
It has been given out twice since, one fighter, one unspecified
(Diego Miguel; fighter, fencer, or archer?)
It has NOT been given out since last Pennsic. Ten recipients in three years.
By comparison the Golden Alce for fighting/fencing/archery skill has been given
out 86 times in that same time period.
We are approaching the third anniversary of this award and it still doesn't
have a name! It still doesn't have a badge! That means no medallions, no
belt favors, no regalia! Even if someone DOES get this award, they can't show
it off.
I'm issuing a challenge to the people of Aethelmearc.
1.) If you think someone does an excellent job of authentic appearance,
recommend that they be given the OMA. This can be done online at:
http://www.aethelmearc.org/onlineaward
2.) Come up with a name for the order.
3.) Come up with a badge for the order.
I'll review all the submissions, strike out the ones that would
have trouble getting registered and present the rest of the list
to their Highnesses and Majesties at Ice Dragon.
