Hmm, now that you mentioned the Pell's shield is made of plastic, it is
black and shiny looking(I don't know why I didn't realize it was made of
plastic) and does not look to be barrel plastic. I never looked at it
closely but I thought it was wood and painted.
I may be misinterpreting the clarifications made on this topic, but if you
are changing to rules for mostly having shields that don't look like a
piece of barrel plastic, that's too bad. If you are doing it for safety,
I'd like to see/hear proof that a shield made from plastic is
dangerous. If you are going for what it looks like then why don't you just
say it should be made of a certain type of plastic?
This is more of a general comment about the SCA, which I have been a member
of for over 26 years. Every time this sort of regulation goes into affect
we lose members, paying or otherwise. That's too bad
