[SCA-AE] Changes to armored combat regs

There was an exibhit (sp?) in Amsterdam years ago, where they showed armor from around the world -- wish I had a camera phone back then... --
they had what they were calling a "breach shield", made of iron, and had enough hand holds for 4 people to hold it in place.
It could have been a hoax, and since I don't have the documentation to back it up, I'll defer should anyone find fault with it.

Can't see how you could, but there's always a way...
Liked your post, Eirik, except I'm curious about one statement you made:
> I'd say that makes a strong argument for allowing an aluminum shield versus a "period built iron shield".
I'm unaware of any such iron shields - and dubious that a mere human
could carry one. Iron-bound edges on wooden shields, perhaps (or bound
with other metals)...
Just a pedantic quibble - and I'm eagerly awaiting someone to prove me wrong...
