[SCA-AE] BEOWULF at Cornell - Once in a lifetime opportunity.

Greetings from Myfanwy!
Alastar and I saw him perform several years ago, here in Pittsburgh
(there wasn't the projection back then, though).
It was absolutely hypnotic. We saw it through the Renaissance and
Baroque Society, and the audience got treated to a Q&A session
afterwards (that alone was was worth the price of admission). One of
the most interesting questions was whether foreign audiences got more
of the Old English words -- he said that people in Iceland can read it
in the original, but orally Old English is sufficiently different from
modern Icelandic that they don't necessarily get any more words (just
different ones). Oddly enough, the people who could follow it the best
are those who speak Frisian.
Just a heads up for anyone in BMDL or the surrounding area -- he will
also be performing here in Pittsburgh soon, although I don't remember
the date. For info, contact the Renaissance and Baroque Society (I
think they may have a website, and if not, I'm pretty sure they're
listed in the community section of the Pittsburgh phone book).
I wish I could go again this time, because it was an absolutely
phenomenal experience, and I heartily recommend it to anyone who has a
chance to see him perform.
