Thank you for your kinds words, but alas, I'm not a sir - I'm a lady, LOL (well, ok, some might beg to differ). It's actually Ysabeau Tiercelin, but everyone knows me as Tiercelin. Cheers - Tiercelin

To the contrary sir, you should _not_ feel bad. Being willing to question
your opinion is how one buys the right to hold it. I too would like
clarification. If these 24 events happened outside the SCA context that's
one thing. If they happened inside it would be another. If inside, is
there any kind of a pattern? Wholesale background checks seems like a
shotgun approach when a bullet might serve better. OTOH, I can easily think
of patterns where the background check would be a bullet. The facts matter
if I'm to hold an opinion, and I agree that the issue is important enough
that I'd like to.
YIS,
Brion Enkazi
P.S. I know some of the people at the BOD level and respect both their
opinions and judgment. So I lean towards the side that assumes they've
probably asked these questions. That doesn't change my desire to follow
their logic, however, merely the emotional attitude behind it. Curiousity
and diligence, rather than suspicion, are the order of the day.
I also understand that confidentiality issues may limit how much hard data
can (should) go out to the general public. I've dealt with comparable
issues in a mundane legal context, however, and believe that's a solvable
issue. We don't need names, e.g., but it would help to know if the
offenders held SCA offices that gave them authority over children, whether
the two-adults rule was in place, whether the events grew out of the office
or took place at someone's home, etc.
