Very true.  I've seen situations like that as well.  Perhaps then the
solution might be to ask the parent to remove the child from the premises.
If a person came in drunk and disorderly, a responsible autocrat would ask
them to leave...so if a parent refuses to control their child, why not
politely ask them to do so or take the child home?  While the SCA is a
family organization, it's unfair to the rest of the people at an event to
have a child inflicted on them in such a manner in the same way as it would
be to have that drunk and disorderly person inflicted on them.  Punish the
offender, not the masses.  Here's hoping that parents have enough courtesy
to the rest of us that if they want to play and don’t want to keep an eye on
their kids, they leave them home with a babysitter.
