  What's my favorite scroll?

  That's a tough one.
There is my favorite because it meant so much when I got it.
That's the promisory scroll I received when I got my AoA.
It was printed off the computer, with a line space for a name,
and a line for the signatures.
         They spelled my name wrong,
and the Prince's signature was smudged because he used a
felt marker and got his hand in the way.

Then there is my scrolls I have received in the Barony of Endless Hills. They are very colorful, and directed towards the recipient. WAY COOL.

And then there are the scrolls my boys received for their service to the Barony & SCA at large. These mean the most to me, because they are a part of the legacy I have imbued into my children. These were also created with the boys in mind. questions were directed at myself and Mistress Euriol (their mother), to help create scrolls that would mean something to the boys.

Lady Barbary Rose says that her favorite embelllishment is gilding.
My favorite embellishing is personalization of the scroll for the recipient.

If I could have a say in what the scribes get taught in a class. I would say, how to reach out to family or friends of the intended recipient to make the scroll as personalized as possible. (yes I know that sometimes a scribe is only given a mere moments time to come up with the wording of a scroll, depending on the whim of their Majesties, or other royalty. This is also a possibility to go to the head of the group [group seneschal] that the person is involved in, and ask for direction on what they like so that the scroll can be personalized to some extent)

Most importantly though would have to be just putting your heart into your work.

  After all,
"This person did some things and as such is deservingly being entered into the rolls of X"
  isn't as touching as
"Good gentles, Take heart in these words. News has travelled to their Majesties that <enter name here> has been active as a member of <these guilds/this group>, instrumental in creating <these projects> and held offices for their local group as <enter offices> as well as acting as <additional information here>.
With such good deeds being done, a Royal proclamation has been made that they should be entered into the rolls of <Enter award here>"

And now for a plug. ...
Lady Barbary Rose is one of the best scribes I have seen put her hand to vellum (or what ever medium she is working in). I am proud to own a number of scrolls done by her hand.

And now for something entirely different.....

If you are not a scribe, what was your favorite scroll and why?
This helps the scribal community to better understand what
tickles a recipient's fancy; personalization, creating a scroll
within the persona's time period, gilding, animals....
