Letter Torture in Terza Rima

I have been asked to write this note
By one who is of some repute
Alas, I cannot write by rote.

The method’s under some dispute.
Not everyone can quick compose
A tome against the King’s refute. 

I’m sure while I was in repose
A bubble bath, a manicure,
Someone dreamed of monarchial throes.

Why, who would want to enter list,
And thus as worthy to then pose,
And win what they have thus far missed?

Quite everyone, it would now seem.
This is the fourth upon my  list.
Mine eye has taken madness’ gleam.

And  yet, to see each gentle’s eye
Upon the reading, what they glean,
The startled face, the tear they cry,

The joy of consequence and worth,
Is greater than at first may seem
And is the source of  smiles and mirth.

So still, with royalty I team,
To find those who’re with honor smote.
A least, I hope it’s what they mean.
