I don't seek new associates because I am not as active as I once was (something to do having children, and then suddenly becoming a single parent), but I was never terribly comfortable with long-distance relationships. Each peer has their own style, and some deal with distance better than others.
On your other comment regarding Endless Hills, it is also much newer than the other big baronies. There have been people in that area (hi, Aoife and Brion!) for decades, but for whatever reason, the group didn't grow as fast as places like Delftwood and Thescorre. Perhaps Scranton is a more conservative town and less amenable to the weirdness that is the SCA. :-)

What about the peerages taking on Protoge's, apprentices, Squires, etc.
Rumor has it, that there are a number of peers that don't actively seek out new persons to be their students.
Does THIS have an affect on where the peerages are coming from?
