Greetings!
During the past two years, I have seen more combat archers take the field.
I've also seen more events and autocrats, whenever possible include more
combat archery in their events. I have been very happy to see this. I hope
this continues.
So, along those lines.. for those that do not know.. We do have a kingdom
combat archery list:
AEthelmearcCA at yahoogroups.com (It was created by THL Brad Broda).
Combat archery is great way to get out on the field, to see how and if you
like it. :) IT's lots of fun and it's not scary :) There are several of us
who will help you get out on the field. Usually, the three biggest hurdles
are:
1. learning how to make the arrows/bolts
2. making/getting armor (except hand protection, it's the same as any other
fighter, so your local knight marshal should be able to help with this).
3. getting a place and time to practice.
I have ideas on how to help with all of these. One idea I had (with a nudge
from a friend), is to perhaps have a combat archery event/war college. I
helped run several of these before, but before I get too far on this.. I
have questions for all of you:
1. Who would be interested in an event like this??
2. Who would be willing to help teach a class on how to make a combat
arrow/bolt or another piece of CA gear??
3. Anyone willing to teach a class/hold a workshop on making some of the
basic pieces of armor?
4. Anyone willing to teach a class on working with a shieldman and/or
another archer?
5. Anyone willing to teach a class on tactics and what archers should/can do
to be more effective?
6. Anyone willing to share tips and suggestions that you have learned to
help new or not-experienced archers??
7. anyone have any good free or inexpensive sites that we could use for this
type of event??
8. although I would prefer a site where we could have melees and one-on-one
training, it's likely too late to do that this year *before it gets too
cold*, are people interested in just a class/workshop environment?
9. Anyone have any extra material/armor/supplies that you no longer use,
that you would be willing to either give to new archers or donate to make
kingdom Combat Archery loaner gear??
If anyone would like to help with this or anything above, please contact me.
Please feel free to forward this to your local group, since I know we have
several groups.. that have several people that want to start doing combat
archery.
If you can help or if you would like to talk further about this off list,
please send a email to me: tessathehuntress at yahoo.com
Thanks,
Duchess Tessa the Huntress
