In case anyone would like to see it, I also get this magazine and will happily carry it with me to the next few events I go to
Let me know off list if you're interested and I will endeavor to get to your vicinity

Yesterday I received my fall issue of Spin off magazine, normally I find good stuff in this magazine but just of interest to spinners, knitters and felters. This issue contains some exceptional articles of more interest to those in the SCA.
First, is the article "The House that Genghis Built" The author of this article went to the Gobi desert and has documented with photos the process of making a felt covering for a ger. It is a well written article and great pictures.
There is also an article on spindle whorls with pictures of artifact whols that date as early as 1500 BCE and as late as 1500 CE. This article is called Touching Time, Finding and using "pre-owned" spindle whorls.
Spin off is published by Interweave Press and some Borders and Barnes and Noble bookstores carry it as well as many knitting shops.
