An interesting new book came out a few months ago which has received little
notice (maybe because it appears to be difficult to pry copies out of the
publisher) called VIKING CLOTHING. I had 1 copy at Pennsic, 2 copies at
Summer's End (all went to friends) and now I have 5 copies that were
supposed to be here for Harvest Raid. I plan to be at the Clothing Collegium
in Canton of Beau Fleuve this Saturday but we have no events scheduled in
November.

This is a subject that interests many people but, as far as I know, this is
the first book on the subject. The author uses evidence from archeology,
art and literature and includes a number of pictures, most B&W. There is a
chapter that deals with spinning and weaving. The author has done a great
deal of research in archeological works works available only in Scandinavian
languages and provides a great service in bringing this together in an
easily accessible format. It is a paperback and sells for $37.50. I don't
know if I'll get any more in before Christmas, so shop now for the Viking on
your list!
