There was a similar item in the paper recently. It seems a soldier lost his
West Point ring in 1999. He sold his red sports car. The new owner sold it
again a few years later to a 24 yo woman. The woman owned a ferret. The
ferret got loose from his cage and found the shiny under the seat. The
woman sold it to a pawn shop. The pawn shop owner got suspicious of a 24 yo
woman with a West Point ring dated 1980's and called the police to report
stolen goods. The police were able to find the original owner because they
had the year, initials and SSN on the inside of the ring. The soldier is
currently in Iraq, but they contacted him. He asked his wife to pay the
pawn shop owner and he's delighted to have his West Point ring back after
loosing it half a decade ago!
