While I cannot say that I knew His Excellency personally, I do recall
meeting him & losing to him in the lists at King & Queen's Champions
tourney some years ago.  He was a fine gentleman & an excellent Baron &
knight.  We are all less for his passing.

 It has been brought to my attention that many people in our Kingdom may
have known Baron Sir Tristen Von Halstern of the East Kingdom. He used
to attend Ice Dragon in years past. I am sad to announce that he passed
away last week. The following is a post that appeared on the East
Kingdom list on 10/17/06. Of note, please do not be confused in thinking
this is our own Baron Sir Tristen from the Barony of Blackstone. There
will be an SCA memorial next month. If you are interested in more

Tristen McLoughlin, 41, passed away 
on Thursday, October 12,2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born in Red
Bank, N.J. and had livedpreviously in Tinton Falls, N.J. and
Philadelphia, Pa. John most recentlyworked as a computer consultant for
Scott Financial Co. He was formerlyemployed at Frankford Stiles, a
non-profit organization that providesafter school art, dance and music
instruction to inner city children inPhiladelphia. He was a 1984
graduate of the Monmouth Regional High Schooland Stockton State College
graduate in 1989. John was very creative andhad many friends. Survivors:
John is survived by his mother, Joyce OtteMcLoughlin of Tinton Falls;
his father, Thomas McLoughlin in Virginia; hisbrother, Thomas McLoughlin
Jr., M.D. and his wife Rebecca of CenterValley. Also surviving are his
two nephews, Ryan and Aidan McLoughlin; hisniece, Keelin McLoughlin and
his aunts and uncles, Janet and GeorgeHolbrook of Stockton, N.J;
Patricia and Thomas Schultz in Virginia,Catherine and Ray Arnold in
Maryland and Donald 
and Donna McLoughlin inIllinois. Services: A memorial gathering will be
held at John E. DayFuneral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank on Wednesday
October 18, 2006from 3-5 p.m. Letters of condolence may be sent to the
family through thefuneral home website at www.sidun.com. Contributions:
In lieu of flowers,memorial donations may be made in Johns memory to The
