[SCA-AE] question regarding knife laws in NY

Good day,
    My husband and I are considering relocating to New York, however, he would like to know what is and is not legal to own or make in the state of New York in regards to knives. He is a custom bladesmith, and has been reading the various laws pertaining to the ownership and carrying of double bladed weapons, and is very distressed to read that all are outlawed. Since 99% of his work is quality reproduction of period blades, this would essentially mean he would not be able to ply his trade. 
    Would anyone be so kind as to let us know what is the truth? Before we move lock stock and dogs (I'm a dog breeder, and there's this really lovely kennel available in NY) we need to know. It would prevent our moving to your fair Kingdom.
