[SCA-AE] How do you make this hat?

My understanding is that it is a mutated hood. There is a genearl
pattern in the Medieval Tailor's Assistant. It basically looks like a
14th c. hood but with a very short lire pipe (a few inches at most - if
any), a small collar part, and totally open in the front. The hood
part is extended in the front and then folds back to get that wing-y
look on the sides of the head.
That's the take of a person who mostly looks at pictures and tries to
figure out what is going on. I _know_ there are more astute costuming
researchers out there who could be of more help!

Subject: [SCA-AE] How do you make this hat?
Does anyone know how to make the interesting black hat that the woman
on the left is wearing in the February panel of Les Tres Riches Heures
du Jean for the Duc de Berry?

I'm not on any costuming lists, and I have a limited amount of time
online, so could not do more than a cursory search. Can anyone help?
Thanks! ~Hilda
