Greetings to all:
At the risk of sending a "me, too" post, I'd like to express my thanks for
the hospitality of St. Swithin's Bog denizens, who very kindly provided with
us with not only a shelter, but a peace of mind as well. Had we had to
bring our own shade, which we use only for large camping events, it would
take 3 people to put it up, especially in the wind - Miranda is a strong
11-year old, but I wouldn't trust her to hold up the tent while one of us
stakes it. And we hate asking for help with our own gear. And we got to
sleep for a whole extra 1.5 hours because Alric and his crew turned out and
loaned us their shade - that would be the combined time of packing the shade
and putting in up and fussing with it, and decompressing afterward. And the
shade had our name on it, which was very sweet.
Furthermore, I'd like to thank the person who brought the hot water and tea
bags to the listfield. They were so welcome.
On a constructive note: would Sir Aengus and Mistress Yvianne kindly share
what kind of a shade they use for events? I was impressed by their setup,
but didn't take the time to scrutinize it. They even had walls. They even
had an interior wall. Wow.
Kazi, whose personality changes for the worse when she is sleep-deprived
<<A big, giant, special "thank you" to the people of the Barony of Saint
Swithin's Bog who not only hosted a wonderful Crown Tourney and a
spectacular feast, but also went out of their way to provide shelter to
those who watched this tournament. This was a blustery weekend, but the
people of St. Swithin's spent their Friday (in the freezing cold) putting up
every pavilion they could borrow so that fewer of their guests would have to
do this themselves. They spent Saturday afternoon and evening taking them
all down. Given that the wind was too strong for most sunshades, this was a
huge benefit to the people who came to fight or watch.
Setting up this many pavilions takes a great deal of time and effort, and I
would like to thank each and every person who took the time to help with
this.
Dorinda>>
